October 2016 News

In the Community

We are continuing to go out into the community. We have been invited into the BAPS Temple in Coventry but this was postponed due to a death in the organisation. We are awaiting a new date. We were due to help out at the Know Your Risk Roadshow in Northampton but due to ill health Alison had to cancel. We were invited to join a Wellbeing Day at the new retirement village on Albany Road Earlsdon in October, where we spoke to over 23 people giving out information.

The Big Collection Weekend 17-18th September

The national Big Collection Weekend took place on the 17-18th September. Due to the lack of volunteers and no one volunteering to be a team leader, the Coventry collection at the TESCO ARENA PARK store was withdrawn. Let's hope we can participate next year.

After hearing about recent fire safety issues at UHCW, a letter was written by Jim Cunningham MP to the CEO Andy Hardy. In response it has been confirmed that the cost of remedial works will be picked up by the original Construction Company. This is good news for all NHS patients in Coventry.

We are continuing to support the WISDEM Centre with the provision of information booklets and leaflets. The Research Team have also asked for Type 2 volunteers for a current research project. More information is available from Alison.
