In the Community

We attended the Sikh Union Vaisakhi event in Memorial Park at the beginning of May and the Lions of Coventry Godiva Mele at the Transport Museum at the end of May. A Big Thank you to Steve Chetwynd, Brian and Diane Bird and Keith Blake who helped man the stands with Alison. June is hotting up with visits to Boots Pharmacy (9th June) Earlsdon Park Village (11th) HMP Dovegate Uttoxeter (13th) not to mention our bucket collection in Coventry City Centre on the 16th.

We have also been invited to Warwick University to attend their disability and carer’s awareness event just after National Diabetes Week on the 20th June.

Our bucket collection on the 16th June is nearly upon us. This is our annual main fundraiser of the year. All support groups are supposed to be self funding so we need to raise as much money as we can. We are still short of collection volunteers so please consider giving up a couple of hours to help.

Raising Awareness

Last year Alison was invited to work with the School of Podiatry on designing an individual Information Prescription for Feet. GPs will use these to inform patients of their individual risk of foot problems. The final draft should be launched in July with Diabetes UK taking the lead. In June Alison will also be attending the regional Foot Care Forum which discusses best practice on foot care across the region.

The refreshments provided for your enjoyment at our meetings have been paid for out of group funds. In order to raise further funds for the group we request a goodwill donation of 50p minimum into the pot. Thank you for your consideration.
