In the Community

We are continuing to go out into the community. We have been invited to talk to staff at VCA in Nuneaton in November, as well as a talk to a group of 1st year medical students in Tile Hill. We also have community talks booked in the diary for January.

A few members of the group had a meeting with Councillors at the City Council at the beginning of December. We are hoping to get the council to fund the Diabetes UK "Know Your Risk" Roadshow bus for another trip to Coventry. The result of this meeting was very positive and we look forward to working with the Council to help raise awareness in the more at risk area’s of Coventry.

Raising Awareness

The Group Committee are making contact with every GP surgery in Coventry, to highlight the group's existence and to encourage them to put our meeting posters up in every waiting room. The reception received so far has generally been very positive. Please let us know in the new year if your surgery still has not put the posters up.

We are continuing to support the WISDEM Centre with the provision of information booklets and leaflets. The Research Team have also asked for Type 2 volunteers for a current research project. More information is available from Alison.

Some of the money raised by the group raffle will be used to purchase our goodies for the Christmas meeting. As there were so many mince pies left over last year, they will be replaced this year by cheese and biscuits and other nibbles.
