August - October Newsletter 2019

If you would like further details on any article please ask.

In the Community.

At short notice we were invited to attend the recent Coventry Godiva Lions Mela in Daimler Green. A big THANK YOU to Keith, our Community Champion who helped Alison on the day. We were asked to do a Risk Assessment day for Warwickshire Police at their HQ in September but due to confusion between the Police and the CCG we were given the wrong date. We have said we would be happy to attend their well being events in future. We are off to HMP Dovegate on the 16th October. We have also been invited by the CCG in conjunction with Coventry Godiva Lions to attend two Diabetes awareness event at two Gurudwara Temples in Foleshill on 10th and 17th November and carry out the Risk Assessments. We need at least two trained Risk assessors for each event so if anyone would like to help out please let Alison know.

Shaleen has been asked to set up a Peer 2 Peer support group at the Forum Health Centre in November.

Alison will be going along for support.

Raising Awareness

We are currently pencilling in a few bookings for future events, but Alison is being selective until things are back to normal.

A quick update

At the time of writing this newsletter Alison’s foot blister has finally healed and whilst still on crutches, it should not be long before normal service is resumed. It is just a case of giving the skin time to thicken and harden up a bit to build up protection and the wait for a new shoe to be made.

Alison would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has driven her to events and those who pitched in to help out.

Diabetes UK Inspire Awards.

Our Group have been nominated for the Reaching Out and Connecting Award. This is the forth time in a row we have been nominated for an award so Well Done to Everyone for your hard work and support. The award winners will be announced in October at the Volunteer Conference for the East and West Midlands in Derby.
