In the Community

Community talks are already coming in to the diary so we hope to be as busy as 2017 spreading the word on better self management and prevention of Type 2 Diabetes. Alison gave a community talk to patients at the Forum Health Centre in February and attended a Well Being Event at Earlsdon Retirement Village in March. We have been invited back to HMP Dovegate in June during National Diabetes Week.

Research

Researchers in Sweden and Finland have uncovered a more complicated picture of Diabetes. Experts have always known that using Type 1 and Type 2 was not a very accurate classification system. The new research has showed that the patients (14,775) in the study can be separated into 5 distinct clusters. This could lead to a more individual targeted treatment. The full article is printed in The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology.

Fundraising

We have now received our licence for our bucket collection. The date is CONFIRMED as 16th June. Please consider giving up a couple of hours to help us raise money for the group. The more collectors we have the more money we can raise.

Raising Awareness

Alison was asked to do an interview on BBC Coventry and Warwickshire with Trish Adudu, about the increase of Type 2 diagnoses.
